| File Description | PSD files are created by Adobe Photoshop, an industry leading image editing app. They may contain information of image layers, adjustment layers, layer masks, file information, annotation notes, and other elements. PSD can store graphics in RGB, CMYK, grayscale, monochrome, indexed color, Lab color, and multichannel color modes. To change color mode, open your PSD file with Adobe Photoshop and go through Image/Mode. Although PDS is a proprietary format, many programs can open it as long as the correct codec like Ardfry PSD codec is installed. |

When you double click PSD files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected PSD file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open PSD files on WindowsRight-click on the PSD file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the PSD file opener. If you decide to always open PSD files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open PSD files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of PSD files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your PSD file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default PSD file opener app.
