| CR2 File Description | CR2 is the widely used raw image format by Canon manufacturered cameras. CR2 file format stores uncompressed image data based on the TIFF specification. Some earlier versions of Canon digital cameras also apply the .CRW raw format, which is based on the Camera Image File Format (CIFF). When you double click CR2 files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected CR2 file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open CR2 files on WindowsRight-click on the CR2 file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the CR2 file opener. If you decide to always open CR2 files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open CR2 files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of CR2 files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your CR2 file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default CR2 file opener app.
